Nunsmere Hall was originally built around 1900 on a promontory almost surrounded by a sylvan-shored lake, Liverpool shipping magnate Sir Aubrey Brocklebank’s former home is steeped in history.

He was a director of both the Suez Canal Company and the Great Western Railway; his Brocklebank Line lost a sixth of its fleet in the Great War. Later, as chairman of Cunard, he mused over the plans and models at Nunsmere that led to the construction of the mighty ocean liner Queen Mary.

He died in 1929, five years before the great ship was launched at Cammel Laird, but his son John, brought up at Nunsmere, became Cunard chairman in 1959 and initiated the plans for the Queen Mary’s replacement, QE2.

Pictures of these great ships hang on the walls of Nunsmere’s gracious lounges where Cheshire Life’s guests were greeted by Prima Hotels’ Group chief executive Liam Walshe and his wife Sylvia, Nunsmere’s general manager Michael Scott and recently appointed Chris Gillett, managing director of Prima’s growing portfolio of managed hotels.

The late Margaret Thatcher having been ousted from power by the then chancellor John Major retreated in seclusion to Nunsmere Hall to write her memoirs for her years in power and record of this hangs on the wall inside Nunsmere.

What displays can I have at Nunsmere Hall?

Blitz Fireworks and Nunsmere Hall have been working together since 2015. We are extremely proud to be working with the Boutique Hotels Group and this hotel is absolutely stunning with glorious gardens that provide a superb setting for the most stunning firework displays.

In 2019 the embankment was cleared leading down to the lake surrounding the hotel which provided absolutely breathtaking views from the wedding marquee across the lake. This has allowed Blitz to create the ultimate in pyrotechnic luxury.

The Lake View display where your display is fired from floating pontoons on the lake. Beautiful pyrotechnic material coupled with a suitable musical score and its reflective values over the water make this an absolutely unique pyrotechnic theatre of dreams.

Nunsmere Hall was the first venue in the Boutique Hotels Group that we provided for and today we are both proud and honoured to be sole suppliers to all three venues in the group, a measure of trust and confidence from the owners that we do not take lightly as we seek to represent the venue in the best possible way.

The Blitz team look forward to welcoming you to your outdoor entertainment as we stand ready at the podium waiting for you to push the button to start your own display.

Blitz Fireworks are a professional established company within the UK Firework industry. We provide over 200 wedding displays annually across the country and carefully select the pyrotechnic material that we use so that we are able to offer bespoke displays specifically targeting the needs of the Bride & Groom on the biggest day of their lives.

The dedicated team at Blitz work full time preparing breathtaking displays for our clients whether that be a quick three minute high intensity display or a prestigious pyromusical, we are small enough to care and big enough to cope.

Our dedication to the design and choreography of firework displays has won Blitz 1st place at 7 competitions throughout the UK since 2011. Blitz Fireworks were crowned British Firework Champions in 2014 at Plymouth and most recently the 2018 Firework Champions at Newby Hall in Yorkshire.

Please note Blitz Fireworks Ltd reserve the right to make changes and amendments to the material in your display which may or may not affect the duration.

On extremely rare occasions this can be due to adverse weather conditions and not necessarily due to material availability, whilst this occurrence is extremely rare it can sometimes occur.

Unfortunately as Nunsmere Hall and its grounds are so unique some musical tracks that a client may wish to use might not be suitable for the grounds or the pyrotechnic material available to interpret their music choice, on these rare occasions we will work with the client to agree a suitable alternative song choice.

Whilst this can be a little restrictive with regards to the choreographer’s creative flair it is essential that we take the venues interests in to consideration as well as those of their neighbours and the environment along with all safety aspects.
